Principal's Corner

Mamie Lou Gross Elementary is proud to show off our new look for our 10th anniversary year! Over the summer our school was completely redecorated with a new color scheme centered around our school colors, burgundy and gold! Freshly painted walls and newly carpeted hallways and classroom floors provide a bright and warm environment for everyone. It has been great to see how excited our students and families have been about the project.

As the principal of the MLGES TEAM, I am thrilled to report that we are a school that strives to work together to help everyone achieve at the highest learning levels. There are several new strategies in place to assist your children this year. The Early Intervention Program (EIP)/ RTI team is working to provide many different learning strategies to meet the needs of the various learners within our school! Classroom teachers and these specialty teams are collaborating in an effort to provide the right type of assistance for our student body. Morning Mania Sessions and Breakfast Club Models lend a different approach to instructional assistance. Students work early morning on skills that prepare them for the day and help them review difficult concepts. Our daily instruction is focused on all subjects with a school emphasis on Math and Science this year.

MLGES continues to focus on our Time to Teach School-Wide Discipline Plan that focuses on keeping students in their classes for instruction. Students and entire classes will be awarded for excellent behavior each nine weeks.
As a staff, we continue to place emphasis on our Chick-Fil-A Character Education Program. Each month we focus on a "word of the month" and provide activites and lessons by our school counselor, Mrs. Spears.

As you can see, the faculty and staff at MLGES believe in focusing activites on the "total child" in an effort to help our students develop well academically, socially, and physically. We encourage you to join us in providing the best activities for our children. We are committed to another great year!
